Black Lives Matter

I have gone through a roller-coaster of emotions over the past week. We have seen the injustices and the systemic racism that plagues our nation. We have watched a Black man get murdered on the streets of Minneapolis while in the custody of the police. There are too many emotions to list and Black people are tired! We have had enough. Until the lives of Black people matter, you cannot say that all lives matter. That is what is should be, but those are words coming from people who are not affected by the injustices that happen daily. It is my opinion that they truly believe that because they live in a bubble or they know that's not true, but do not care.

As Black people we need to do all we can to make some serious changes. I believe we have to tackle this problem head on. It is imperative that we vote on all levels, not just the primary election and get involved in organizations dedicated to empowering and encouraging Black people. We have to start somewhere and the suggestions above are just that: suggestions. There is work to be done!

Shirley Chisholm stated, "You don't make progress by standing on

the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by

implementing ideas."

Let's get to work! Black lives matter.
